Variable Inertia Bar
(MC-1134) |
It is to demonstrate to students that the torque necessary to accelerate a flywheel depends on its moment of Inertia rather than its mass. A steel bar 12 mm dia x 785 mm long is mounted at its centre on a sleeved spindle. The spindle is extended through a sleeve so that ; bar may be rotated by means of a weight and string. Heavy adjustable bobs are mounted on each end of the bar and may be clamped at desired position enabling the inertia of the system to be varied as required. |
